Welcome Aboard Kit: Employee Onboarding Gift Set

A new hire's first day is a moment that sets the tone for everything after it. What they receive at their desk communicates whether the company is invested in them. Here is what the Welcome Aboard Kit includes and why it works.

An HR director at a 200-person tech company once described the problem clearly: "We spend $80 on a Slack onboarding flow and $0 on the physical experience, then wonder why new hires feel disconnected in the first 90 days." The Welcome Aboard Kit is not a cure for that, but it addresses the physical part — what lands on a new hire's desk on day one, and whether it communicates that the company took the time to think about their arrival.

What the Kit Contains

Three items: a 20oz tumbler, a hardcover journal, and an acrylic keychain. All three are branded with your company logo. The tumbler and journal can be personalized with the employee's name. The keychain carries the company logo or a design of your choice.

The 20oz tumbler is the right size for a desk — fits a standard car cup holder, holds a full pot of coffee with room for ice, and is large enough that it will be used daily rather than sitting in a cabinet. The hardcover journal is A5-sized (4.75"×8"), laser engraved with your logo on the cover in a silver reveal finish. It goes into every meeting on week one. The acrylic keychain is a low-cost piece that earns high visibility — it goes on the new hire's keys and stays there.

The Signal These Items Send

Useful branded items communicate investment in a way that a mug or a branded pen does not. A tumbler that will be used for years, a journal that goes to every meeting, a keychain that travels everywhere — these are items that continue working for the company long after the first day. A new hire who uses their company tumbler at the gym six months in has integrated the brand into their life in a way that a branded lanyard never achieves.

Pricing and Minimums

The Welcome Aboard Kit is $39 per set with a minimum order of 25 sets. At that quantity, you are getting a 15% savings over ordering the three items individually. For a company hiring 25 or more people per quarter, ordering a batch covers the cohort. For smaller hiring volumes, the kit can be held in inventory and distributed as new hires arrive.

Remote Employees

The Welcome Aboard Kit ships as a complete package — it can be addressed to individual employees and mailed directly rather than going to an office for redistribution. For companies with distributed teams where new hires may never set foot in an office on day one, direct-ship is the standard approach. The kit arrives at the employee's home as a physical first impression of the company.

When to Order Relative to a Hiring Cohort

Order 3 to 4 weeks before the start date of your hiring cohort. Production takes 7 to 12 business days; add shipping transit time to reach the distribution point. For companies with rolling start dates rather than cohort batches, maintain a small buffer inventory of 10 to 15 kits and reorder when stock drops below 5.

Design the Welcome Aboard Kit for your new hires. $39/set, minimum 25 sets.
